HanKyung ‘Fire’ accused of plagiarising UKnow YunHo ‘Checkmate’

Super Junior ex-member HanKyung gets involved in plagiarism accusations.

HanKyung recently released a new song ‘Fire’ in China and the song has been slammed with plagiarism accusation. Currently, HanKyung had left Super Junior and is promoting solo.

Some netizens pointed out that the song sound very similar to Dong Bang Shin Ki’s song ‘Checkmate’ released by UKnow YunHo in a concert in February 2009. The song ‘Checkmate’ is said to be written and composed by UKnow YunHo and it has received positive reviews even though it was not performed on broadcast.

Netizens comment, “Does he have no conscious plagiarising and promoting the song in China?”, “I don’t know about others, but the interlude sounds the same”, “I think he needs to apologise officially about the plagiarism” etc.

While some netizens voiced, “This is not plagiarism, this is ridiculous”, “I hope it is not true that this is plagiarism” etc.

I haven’t listened to HanKyung’s new song so I won’t comment on this for now. I guess I’ll check out the song on YT first before I decide if he really plagiarized Yunho’s Checkmate.

HanKyung ‘Fire’ accused of plagiarising UKnow YunHo ‘Checkmate’

I know I don’t usually post news about Super Junior here but since I’ve already posted about Hankyung’s lawsuit against SM, I might as well post this one too. Besides, this is in a way DBSK related they are fighting for the same thing that JaeChunSu are fighting for and Donghae – my most favorite SuJu member – might be involved in this so of course, I would care about this issue.

Not Just Hangeng; 6 Members Of Super Junior File For Lawsuit Against SM

[Sina Entertainment News] The day before, Hangeng, the only Chinese member of Asia’s super popular group, Super Junior, filed for a termination of his “exclusive contract” with SM Entertainment. According to the latest news from Korea, Hangeng is not the only one who filed the lawsuit. Other Super Junior members have also filed a similar lawsuit, and they include: Lee Teuk, Yesung, Kangin, Eun Hyuk and Donghae. The only reason why news about Hangeng was exposed first, is because of his nationality.

According to the lawsuit, Hangeng has not had any rest in 2 years, causing him to suffer from fatigue, which also resulted in chronic gastritis, illnesses related to his kidney, lumbar disc herniation, as well as a visible decrease in body strength. However, SM Entertainment rejected Hangeng’s requests for rest, and continued to schedule activities for him, which caused Hangeng to suffer a lot of pain.

According to the contents of the lawsuit, since the time of his debut, Hangeng didn’t even have one day of rest per week. For 2 years, Hangeng has continuously done his overseas schedules as well, and had no choice but to continue with his schedules without any rest. In his contract with SM, there are clauses stating that he has to pay the company monetary damages should he be unable to fulfill the schedules arranged for him. Thus, even when he was in poor health, he had no choice but to follow through with his schedules.

Once the news broke out, many fans have expressed the wish for SM and the members to be able to make peace, and make changes to their contracts, as well as expressed hope that Super Junior will not face the threat of disbanding.

I would like to remind everyone that this news is UNCONFIRMED as of now. It’s a report from Sina (Chinese News) which they “claim” to have gotten from Korean sources. I guess we should wait for further articles to come out confirming this but fans of Super Junior should also be ready to accept this should this news be real. After all, Sina was the first to report about Hankyung filing a lawsuit against SM and it turned out to be true.

I know IF this  news is real, Super Junior fans will be in a difficult situation just like what we, DBSK fans are experiencing at present. Having your favorite group divided into 2 is really, really hard and depressing. But all I can say to all ELFs out there who might be reading this, don’t let your belief and love for the SuJu members falter. We, DBSK fans, know how hard and frustrating this could get but believe me when I say that this will only make you and your relationship with SuJu stronger. This is just one of the challenges that your relationship with them has to go through. It is like a test of how far your love and support for Super Junior is. There may be some fans who would be choosing sides on this issue but I hope you could be like majority of us, DBSK fans, who still support and love the our five boys no matter what their decision may be. My advise is to just believe the SuJu members and no one else. Trust them and, as what Cassiopeia’s battle cry says, always keep the faith no matter what happens. :)

I just thought you guys might be interested with this news (especially Super Junior fans). Looks like SM’s most feared consequence of the whole JaeChunSu lawsuit against them is finally coming to reality. Another SM artist – Hankyung,  the only Chinese member of Super Junior – filed for termination of his contract with SM. More or less, this is similar to what JaeChunSu want to happen.

Exclusive: Hangeng Files For Termination Of Contract With SM

T/N: Translating this because it might turn out to be relevant to the TVXQ case in the long run.

According to Korean news sources, Sina reports that Hangeng from Super Junior, one of Asia’s top idol groups, have applied with the Seoul Central District Court for the termination of his ‘exclusive contract’ with SM Entertainment. This is another bomb that dropped on SM Entertainment since the 3 members of TVXQ, Park Yoochun, Kim Jaejoong and Kim Junsu filed to terminate their contracts in July this year.

In 2001, Hangeng was chosen out of 3000 participants for the “H.O.T China” auditions held by SM Entertainment based on his looks and talent in dancing. After years of training in singing, dancing, acting, instruments and languages, Hangeng debuted as the only Chinese member of Super Junior in 2005, and became the first Chinese to officially debut in South Korea. In April 2008, he was appointed the leader of sub-group SJ-M and began activities in China. Due to his outstanding work, he played an important role in aiding SM in breaking into the China market.

Amongst the youth and media, Hangeng has very high EQ and speaking abilities, and his ‘sunshine’ and hardworking image left a deep impression. Before this, there were many speculations, and even expectations, that he might go solo. His lawyer has expressed that the full details of the case cannot be revealed yet. However, according to the informant, it might be because there are interference to his solo work progress, and thus resulted in his unhappiness with SM Entertainment.

Up until now, no definite statement of what reasons of why Hankyung wants his contract to be terminated is released yet. But I guess for someone as shy, reserved and patient as Hankyung to go this far, maybe has valid reasons. Maybe SM was doing something that he “swallow” anymore, just like what happened to JaeChunSu. But that’s only my guess. Let’s wait for Hankyung’s official statement. Meanwhile, SM has released a statement saying that they will try to talk to Hankyung and “solve” this whole issue. All I can say is: WHATEVER.

I know I sound cruel by saying this but why am I actually HAPPY to hear this news? I guess it’s because I’m glad that little by little, the “oppressed” (SM artists)  are beginning to have the courage to stand for themselves. JaeChunSu’s courage to be the first to take a stand against SM sure did give the other artists the “push” they need to fight for their rights. Now, all I’m waiting is for the other SM artists especially Yunho and Changmin to do the same. I hope that will happen very soon.

Anyway, I just hope E.L.Fs and the other Super Junior members would support Hankyung (although seems like Kyuhyun has a different opinion). This will be very tiring and pressuring for Hankyung especially since he’s doing this alone. JaeChunSu are fighting as three and yet they still look so stressed so I can only imagine how hard this will be for him should this continue on to a lawsuit. Even if the other members do not join him in this, I hope at least they give him the moral support he needs. And the E.L.Fs, support and protect Hankyung because we all know that should this end up in court, SM would do anything to ruin him. More than anything, Hankyung needs the support of the fans. Don’t let him down.

Here are some of the fancams from the SMTWON concert in Shanghai held yesterday:

LOVE IN THE ICE (Korean version)

I love this song very much. Whether it’s the Japanese or the Korean version, this song is just so beautiful – in fact, it is beyond beautiful. The boys’ voices, their blending, their expressions, and the amount of emotion they put in this song is just PERFECT.

Another DBSK song that is close to my heart. I feel like I’m back to my childhood every time I listen to this song. What makes it more enjoyable is when I actually see the boys perform it. Their dance steps are just cute and hilarious. I pity Yoochun in this fancam. How could Changmin “beat-up” his hyung like that? Hahaha!

What else can I say? DBSK + Super Junior  = <333

Links to other fancams:

Hankyung and Junsu Dance Battle – OMG. Even Hankyung is showing so much skin already? What the heck is happening? LOL.

Junsu Dance Battle – I hear a lot of Junsu fans say “lucky girl!”. LOL.

JaeJoong Duet with Lina – Just a short clip and is focused on JaeJoong. You won’t see Lina here. JaeJoong one guy with a handsome face and a great angelic voice! <333

Scars Deeper than Love – Duet of JaeJoong and Lina of CSJH. I love the way their voices compliment each other. This is one lovely duet. =)

Rap Battle – SMTOWN’s rappers’ rap battle (what?! LOL.)

Hug – Full version fancam. Awww… I miss this song so much. =)

Purple Line I – Yoochun-focused fancam but nevertheless, it’s the full performance of Purple Line and you can catch a little glimpse of Yunho on this one.

Purple Line II – Another full version fancam of Purple Line but the boys are quite far so we can’t really see their faces.

O Jung Ban Hap – A full version fancam of the boys’ performance. Here you’ll see Yunho’s version of dancing almost half-naked. I don’t know but that coat of him seems familiar. Isn’t that what JaeJoong wore during the SMTOWN concert in Seoul when he too was almost half-naked? Did they actually exchange costumes? Hahaha.

Mics to Yunho – LOL. They all gave the microphones to Yunho when they asked him to talk. Poor Yunnie. All the boys are making fun of him. Hahaha!
