110714 [Star Selca] Park Yoochun, From Monitoring To His Wild Charm To Japanese Fans

Park Yoochun has hit another home run and succeeded with his second acting challenge. Since his acting debut in ‘SungKyunKwan Scandal’, he recently took on the lead role in MBC’s Monday-Tuesday drama ‘Miss Ripley’, receiving praise for his stable acting. Easily expressing ardent internal turnmoil from being tormented by his lover’s lies, he has been praised for going above and beyond the usual restrictions of actor-turned-singers. Park Yoochun, who is pulling at the heartstrings of women by acting as the innocent and carefree conglomerate successor Song Yoo Hyun, has revealed what it is like on location as he films for the drama.

Hello. This is Park Yoochun. My body’s a little worn out from the JYJ World Tour and filming for ‘Miss Ripley’ overlapping. But, getting such a good reaction makes my fatigue disappear as if it’s been washed away. Though my acting is still very lacking, I’m grateful for the fact that you are all understanding about it. To express the subtle character of Song Yoo Hyun as he tries to heal his scars, I’ve put aside ‘Human Park Yoochun’ for a moment and focused completely on ‘Miss Ripley’.

Being so deeply rooted into my character, I’m worried about how I’ll return back to my regular daily routine when the drama is over. It’s true that I’ve become busier as the drama comes to an end. Though I feel all over the place right now, I’ll introduce to you the shipshape filming location of our drama ‘Miss Ripley’.

1. “Will the director be satisfied with my acting?” I’m currently getting into my character. You all know that in the drama, I have much to worry about, right? What would it feel like to find out that the woman you love has fabricated her entire past? Seeing me get into my character, can you feel the nervousness that makes me feel like I’m standing on stage during ‘I Am A Singer’?

2. I’m currently monitoring a scene I just took. I’ve stood on countless stages as I perform in a group, but I still feel like my acting is a bit awkward. Ah, that shouldn’t be the gaze I should have for that scene… Director, let’s do it just once more!

3. This is Director Choi Iseop, who is giving me acting advice after pausing our filming session for a bit. Because it’s a scene in which I have to convey a multitude of deep emotions, it’s very hard to act out. Aigoo, I’m sorry Mr. Director. T.T

4. This is a fun date scene that I shot with Lee Da Hae. Ah, I’d like to meet a girlfriend in real life, not just in dates for music videos and dramas.

5. This is ‘Miss Ripley”s script. You can see the highlighter marks that show my meticulous work, right? I’m Actor Park Yoochun, who reads his script over and over again until the pages are in tatters!

6. I’m completely immersed in playing by myself as I wait for my turn to film. This is ‘the lazy person’s push up’. This is what I do sometimes when I feel the need to exercise though my body feels heavy.

7. Here’s a picture taken with Jang Yong, my father and the chairman of Mondo Group in the drama! He is a ‘great senior’ who I feel grateful to because he waits till I get it right when I make an NG.

8. “Oh. A real man!” Can’t you feel his wild charm? This is the true image of Park Yoochun the ‘Man’. It was a hard scene to film because I had to express complicated emotions while remembering to flex my back muscles.

9. An open filming of our drama in Yongin. Thankfully, that many Japanese fans came to see me. I’m really thankful to them because they watched us film in an orderly silence.

10. Team B’s Director Choi Won Seok is teaching me the blocking of the scene. It’s hard to film outside when the weather’s so hot. The woman behind me who is wiping my sweat off, which continues to trickle down without stopping, is my stylist.

11. I’m taking a nap while I wait for my turn. This is a picture that perfectly shows Park Yoochun’s professionalism as I sleeps on my stomach to avoid messing up my hair.

12. That’s a long-shaped fan that is used to keep my head cool. Our staff members are having a tough time because of me.

13. This is the ‘Mickey fan’. We call it the ‘Mickey fan’ because it has a Mickey Mouse logo on it. You all know that my name is ‘Micky Yoochun’ in our group, right? Haha!

110714 “Miss Ripley” – Audiences Request For An Extension, Even If It’s Just One More Episode

The passionate requests from the viewers to add more episodes to “Miss Ripley” is still going strong. The absolute champion in the Monday-Tuesday dramas, dominating the top spot, “Miss Ripley” viewers have been continually asking for the number of episodes to be increased.

In the MBC Monday-Tuesday drama ” Miss Ripley” (Director: Choi I-Seop, Writer : Kim Sun Young, Producted by : Curtain Call Media, C-JeS Entertainment) hit ratings of 19.1% (AGB Nielsen, Seoul) in episode 14, aired on 12 July, creating a new record for the show and maintaining top position in ratings for the Monday-Tuesday drama slot.

“Miss Ripley” survived in the flood of romantic comedies, a “melodrama” that stood out like a precious gemstone. From this alone,  the value of the viewership ratings are increased. They conquered the hearts of females who have been hoping to watch melodramas, and saw a steady increase in viewership ratings.

On the “Miss Ripley” messageboard, there have been numerous requests and opinions for more episodes. “I really found a special drama that moves one’s heart. I can’t stop crying as I watch TV.” “There are still so many words left unsaid between Choi Myung Gil and Lee Da Hae, how can you just end it like this. It would feel more complete after an extension,” and other comments, the call for an extension being very strong.

The production company said, “With regards to the extension of the show, the staff have been observing intently and diligently trying to fully understand the situation.” “As there is a lot more of the story that we want to tell, we too are hungry for an extension so as to be able to show a more complete drama.”

Also, the new record high ratings of 19.1% (AGB Nielsen, Seoul) in episode 14 have boosted the possibility (of an extension.)

The big plot twist of Choi Myung Gil being the birth mother of Lee Da Hae has attracted much attention. In the confrontation scene at the end (of episode 14) where Choi Myung Gil realises that Lee Da Hae is her daughter, viewership ratings hit 19.5% (AGB Nielsen, Seoul) momentarily, obviously pointing out the part of the plot where the viewers are most concerned about.

110713 Park Yoochun’s Masterful Acting Is Highly Praised, “His Tears Break My Heart”

Park Yoochun showcased masterful acting in a scene that required him to cry.

In the 14th episode of MBC’s Monday-Tuesday drama ‘Miss Ripley’ that aired on the 12th, Song Yoo Hyun is seen blaming himself after finding out that Lee Hwa(Choi Myong Gil) is Jang Miri(Lee Da Hae)’s birth mother.

Song Yoo Hyun finds out that Lee Hwa left her child and family behind in order to marry his father. He has a hard time accepting the fact that Jang Miri became an orphan because of him.

Going to Jang Miri’s childhood home, Song Yoo Hyun comes face to face with Jang Miri as a child. Shedding tears of remorse, he holds her hands and says, “What can I do for Miri for her to forgive me for everything I’ve done to her?”

To this, Jang Miri’s childhood self says, “You’ve done nothing wrong. All I need is for my mom to return to me. Then I’ll be able to study again, go to school again and I won’t have to go back to the orphanage. You look like a really nice person.”

Song Yoo Hyun is unable to leave the spot for a while as he repeats “It’s been rough for you, hasn’t it?” over and over again in his head.

Viewers who watched the scene praised Park Yoochun for his acting as they said, “His tears break my heart,” and “He’s getting better and better.”

On the other hand, the 13th episode of ‘Miss Ripley’ scored viewer ratings of 15.9%(AGB Nielson, Seoul) for its suspenseful storyline and recaptured the title of the most watched Monday-Tuesday drama.

110713 Kim Jaejoong Doesn’t Forget His Fan Service… “Yoochun, Make An Appearance In Our Drama”

JYJ’s fans must be extremely happy right now because JYJ’s Kim Jaejoong(25) will be appearing in his first Korean drama.

He will be expanding his playing field by taking on the role of Cha Mu Won, ‘the prince of the financial world’, in SBS TV’s Wednesday-Thursday drama ‘Protect the Boss’. His character is in an antagonistic relationship with his cousin Cha Ji Hun(Jisung) because of a family feud that began with their parents over the running of the conglomerate.

“Though this is my first Korean drama appearance, I don’t feel any pressure or weight on my shoulders. Shall I say that I feel a sense of nervousness? Of course, I do feel a little pressured about having our drama’s viewer ratings compared to that of ‘City Hunter’ because that drama is doing so well. But my greed to take on my character well is bigger than my greed to succeed.”

As he has showcased his charisma in countless performances, he is broad-minded whether he is acting or singing. But his face filled with worry when he was reminded that Park Yoochun and Kim Junsu have become hits in the drama and musical industries respectively.

He smiled and said, “When I think about the whole situation with only myself in perspective, I don’t feel pressured but when I’m reminded that the other guys have done so well, I suddenly feel a weight on my shoulders,” and “I can’t help but feel pressured when we get compared to each other.”

Kim Jaejoong has gotten his feel for acting through the 2009 movie ‘Postman to Heaven’ and the Fuji TV’s ‘Sunao Ni Narenakute’. Already been praised for his Japanese drama debut, the rumors of his entry into the domestic drama industry have been endless till now.

But because of his world tour schedule, Kim Jaejoong had to reject over ten productions. Therefore, the fact that he has finally decided on a drama has his fans excited and ecstatic. Kim Jaejoong says that the drama’s storyline, content and his character fits him well.

(omitted for repetition)

What kind of advice did the other members give him as fellow actors, not singers? Kim Jaejoong said, “Honestly, I don’t think we’re in the position to give each other advice as actors. All of us are still in the learning process so we just tell each other ‘Work hard,’ or ‘Do your best.’

Kim Jaejoong is still not confident about himself as an actor. But he says that he doesn’t feel more nervous at venues with a larger crowd. “I don’t feel nervous at concert venues with 50,000~60,000 people. But when that number falls to the thousands or hundreds, my nervousness shoots up. There are about 50 people on location when he film for the drama, and I feel like all 100 eyes are staring at me and me only. I’ll have to be able to overcome that.”

JYJ, whose members originate from TVXQ, are known to be one of the most popular groups domestically and overseas. When we asked him if he will be singing or playing an instrument in the drama for his fans, he said that he doesn’t know yet. But he does have something he’d like from fellow team member Park Yoochun.

“He’s working so hard for the drama ‘Miss Ripley’ right now so I don’t know if this will work out, but I would like it if Yoochun could make a surprise appearance in our drama. He’s a director in his drama, so how about he appears in our drama as a director who comes to make a business deal with our company? Director Song, how about you appear just once?“(laughter)

Kim Jaejoong must still like his members who he’s been sharing a house with since 2004. Recently, he moved into the same apartment as Kim Junsu. He joked and said, “Honestly, I didn’t want to move in because Junsu lives there,” but was actually quite delighted to be moving in as he added, “Yoochun was supposed to move into the apartment after Junsu and he didn’t because of personal reasons. I was luckily able to get a house because someone moved out.

He had one more service for his fans. He said, “From what I know, we’re planning on releasing an album before the drama is over,” and emphasized that he will not be abandoning his activities as a singer.

But for now, his acting comes first. Kim Jaejoong said, “When singers make acting debuts, some people still see them as singers,” and “I worry that people will still see me as a singer, so I will work hard to mesh well with my fellow actors.”

He continued to add, “Junsu doesn’t hold back at all. I think he’d be able to showcase a wide variety of music genres.”

He also said, “I talked about it with Junsu and we both think that just getting to appear on ‘I Am A Singer’ itself is a great honor. The rankings wouldn’t matter to us. I think it would be a great honor if we could even appear for just one week.”

110713 Why Does JYJ’s Kim Jaejoong Have Han Hye Jin Saved As ‘King Of Omok’ In His Mobile Phone?

JYJ’s Kim Jaejoong stated that he has actress Han Hye Jin saved as ‘King of Omok’ in his mobile phone.

In an interview with TV Report on the 11th, Kim Jaejoong said, “When we went to Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam for the Park Ji Sung Friends soccer match, I became good friends with Han Hye Jin.” At the time, Han Hye Jin participated in the event as the only female celebrity .

Coincidentally, Kim Jaejoong’s friend happened to know Han Hye Jin, so the two ended up sitting at the same table. Becoming friends quickly in a foreign country, the two would play ‘Omok’(T/N: Omok is a form of Baduk or Go), Han Hye Jin’s hobby, and Kim Jaejoong never won a single match against her.

Kim Jaejoong laughed and said, “She would play Omok every time she was on a break, and she’s so good that she’d probably beat a robot at it. That’s why I saved her as ‘King of Omok’ on my mobile phone.”
